JO LAWN IN 7th HEAVEN!

Saturday 6 March 2010: Team Thompson's had a great day today! Joanna Lawn, the 'Queen of Taupo', won New Zealand Ironman 2010 in great style. Wearing bib number 7, Jo won her 7th NZ Ironman title, and finished 7th overall behind the first six men. Better still, Jo did it in a new course record time, breaking her own course record from two years ago. Jo finished nearly 15 minutes ahead of last year's winner Gina Crawford.

"Today was hard, the bike was pretty rough. It was really windy, and there weren't many people. No-one, really - it was pretty much a solo ride," said Jo after the race, "I never thought I'd get close to the record, because last time I was pushed. But you just have to dig deep and you can break records." Thompson's are proud to be a major sponsor of ironman legend Jo Lawn.

5 February 2010: Double world champion rowers, Hamish Bond & Eric Murray, received yet another accolade last night, receiving the 2009 Team of the Year Award at the prestigious Halberg Sports Awards. HAPPY NEW YEAR FOR JO LAWN!

Jo Lawn got 2010 off to a winning start on 3rd January, taking out the win at the Contact Tri Series Whangamata Triathlon. Jo chose to use the race as a training run for the Port of Tauranga Half Ironman which is on January 9th.
